   About the Position

Impact Statement
Hospice Waterloo Region is a charitable organization that provides compassionate, no-cost support to individuals and families facing end-of-life palliative diagnosis, grief, and bereavement.

Kitchen Volunteers support staff, clients, and visitors by helping maintain a warm and welcoming environment where light meals, snacks, and refreshments are prepared for clients.

Description
As a Kitchen Volunteer, you will contribute to the warm, home-like environment of our 11-bed residence by assisting with meal preparation, baking, and making soup. You'll work under the guidance of the Food Services Coordinator, alongside other volunteers or independently, depending on your level of experience. Volunteers must hold a valid Safe Food Handling Certification or be willing to obtain one.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: All Kitchen Volunteers must complete 5 hours of training, including three online modules and a 2-hour in-person orientation. Applications for the next training session are now open.
Working Conditions: This role takes place in a residential hospice setting and involves working in a shared kitchen environment. Volunteers should be comfortable standing for extended periods and following food safety and hygiene practices.

Transportation: Car required


Time Commitment

Duration: 1 year or more
Weekday - Daytime, Weekend - Daytime
Kitchen Volunteers are asked to be available for 2-3 hour shifts on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Both weekday and weekend shifts are available.
