   About the Position

Impact Statement
Pride Stables offers therapeutic horseback riding to individuals with disabilities through our volunteer-based program. Volunteers assist riders with disabilities during our classes by leading the horse or side-walking along side the rider. We can't do what we do without our amazing volunteers!

Description
Pride Stables is looking for volunteers to help with our riding programs this Fall.

Volunteers are needed to lead horses or side-walk for riders with special needs. No prior horse experience necessary. Volunteers must be 15 years old or older. As a leader, you need the ability to understand & carry out direct instructions. As a side-walker, you need to comprehend instructions & pass them onto the rider & may also need to physically assist/support the rider. Both positions require physical endurance, verbal skills, and excellent English comprehension.

Volunteers are asked to commit to 90 minutes once a week for the 8 week session. We offer classes Monday-Thursday during the day and evenings and on Saturdays. All new volunteers must attend a 2-hour orientation session where we will teach you everything you need to know.

Training Details: Orientation Session for Spring 2026

Tuesday, March 3rd 10am-12pm OR 6-8pm
Thursday, March 5th 10am-12pm OR 6-8pm
Monday, March 9th 10am-12pm OR 6-8pm
Wednesday, March 11th 10am-12pm
Saturday, March 14th 12-2pm

We will pair new volunteers with experienced volunteers. Please contact us with your name, email and phone number, and confirm that you meet or exceed the age threshold to get started.

Pre-registration for a training date is required. Space is limited!

Working Conditions: Outdoors (weather-permitting), or indoors in poor weather; standing, walking, reaching, and working with large animals.
Transportation: Not on a bus route


Time Commitment

Duration: 3 months or less
Weekday - Daytime, Weekday - Evening, Weekend - Daytime
