Description Want to bring community events to life in Stanley Park? Join the SPCA Board of Directors as our Special Events Lead!
We’re seeking a motivated volunteer to lead our Special Events Committee and plan seasonal events like the Halloween party and Christmas breakfast. This elected Board role is key to creating memorable experiences for local families.
Key Duties: - Lead planning, budgeting, and delivery of events - Collaborate with SPCA teams and community partners - Promote events with the Publicity team - Attend events and support setup/teardown - Provide monthly updates at Board meetings
Qualifications: - Strong communication and organization - Attention to detail and ability to multitask - Experience leading teams or special event planning an asset.

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: - Basic Health and Safety, AODA and evacuation training provided - Facility Tour and overview of programs and events - Training in specific software used by the Association - Opportunities to attend workshops, meetings, and other training sessions pertaining to the position - Training and orientation will be provided by the Volunteer Engagement Manager or another Board Member within 8 weeks of acceptance of the position Working Conditions: Hybrid (in-person and work from home) Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Support volunteers with special needs, Accessible work space, Support Newcomers Transportation: Car required

Time Commitment
Duration: 1 year or more Anytime - Create monthly board report with updates on events. - Two (2) hours a month to attend monthly board meetings (held the third Tuesday of the month from 7-9 pm). - Approx. four (4) hours a month to attend Special Event meetings. - Provide support and guidance to committee members assisting them in leading events. - Complete any tasks assigned during meetings. - Attend the majority of events scheduled (including setup, event, and teardown). * Must be able to attend events where you are the acting lead.
