   About the Position

Impact Statement
Provide companionship and library materials to library members who are homebound or reside in a retirement residence, and make friendships of your own. VLS Volunteers take library materials to those who can't make it in.

Description
Tasks include:
• Choose materials according to client’s interests
• Place materials on hold
• Sign out materials
• Keep record of what has been borrowed
• Deliver materials and visit with client
• Keep record of what has been enjoyed
• Collect books and other items that are ready to be returned
• Reading to residents, based on comfort levels
• Follow our Cambridge Public Library Code of Conduct at all times.


Position Qualifications

Ideal for: An Individual
Age: 21+

Area(s) of Interest: Arts/Culture, Library/Research , Senior Services

Skill(s): Customer Service, Interpersonal Communication, Communicate in Plain Language, Verbal Communication, Problem Solving, Empathy


Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Training provided by Volunteer Coordinator
Working Conditions: Visits will take place in clients home.
Transportation: Car required


Time Commitment

Duration: 7 - 12 months
Weekday - Daytime, Weekday - Evening, Weekend - Daytime, Anytime
